Data Protection Act (1998):

The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) is a United Kingdom Act of Parliament which defines the law on the processing of data on identifiable living people and is the main piece of legislation that governs the data protection. Although the Act itself does not mention privacy, it was enacted to bring British law into line with the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. In practice it provides a way for individuals to control information about themselves. Most of the Act does not apply to domestic use,[1] for example keeping a personal address book. Anyone holding personal data for other purposes is legally obliged to comply with this Act, subject to some exemptions. The Act defines eight data protection principles, which apply in various contexts, to ensure that information is processed lawfully.  See more at: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1998/29/contents

Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive (E-Privacy / EC Directive)

Directive 2002/58/EC on Privacy and Electronic Communications, otherwise known as E-Privacy Directive, is an EU directive on data protection and privacy in the digital age. It presents a continuation of earlier efforts, most directly the Data Protection Directive. It deals with the regulation of a number of important issues such as confidentiality of information, treatment of traffic data, spam and cookies. This Directive has been amended by Directive 2009/136, which introduces several changes, especially in what concerns cookies, that are now subject to prior consent. Understanding the Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive Policies and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect the personal information of online users. We hereby agree to these laws and 2011 amendments set forth by the Members of Parliament and the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

We also agree to the Sanctions and Criminal Offence Policies which protect individuals' rights to legally pursue enforceable action against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data collectors that breach the terms outlined in the EC Directive, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and / or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.

As part of our own Privacy Policy that aligns in concordance with the E-Privacy Directive, we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

We will notify the users via social media and in-site notifications within 72 hours.
